5 of the Best Places to Honeymoon in the Southeast

As most of you already know, our original plans to go to St. Lucia for our honeymoon got canceled due to COVID-19.

We were able to quickly regroup and are honestly so, so much happier with our decision to honeymoon somewhere where we don’t have to fly or get tested for COVID the day after our wedding.

In my frantic search for a new honeymoon destinations in the Southeastern US, I found some really amazing options that I hope we can visit in the future just for fun because they look amazing!

Top 5 Places I Found:

1. The Grand Hotel in Fairhope, Alabama

This beautiful hotel is located in Fairhope, Alabama right on the Gulf Shore. They have golf courses, casual and fine dining options, tennis courts, and a spa. What more could you possibly need!

Though there are not a ton of things to do in Fairhope, this hotel has it all and makes it easy to stay on the property and be completely relaxed and satisfied.

My family has stayed here before and we loved it. It would be a great option for a honeymoon! Check out more pictures on their website here.

2. The Inn and Club at Harbour Town in Hilton Head, South Carolina

This coastal boutique hotel is the perfect mix of luxury while still on a smaller, more personal scale.

They offer a wide array of amenities such as a boutique pool, personalized butler service, room service, a fitness center, as well as fine dining options located in their clubhouse.

Not to mention, there are endless activities to partake in. Some of these include beach yoga, tennis, exploring the marina, and golfing.

Also, any hotel that has Molton Brown toiletries, is a favorite in my book.

3. Hotel Bennett in Charleston, South Carolina

I mean… If this isn’t my kind of place!!

Please start perusing through Hotel Bennett’s website because you will never want to stop looking at all of their beautiful photos.

I came across this boutique hotel and my jaw. dropped. It is so gorgeous.

I love Charleston because there is always something going on. Even simply walking down the beautiful cobblestone streets and admiring the quaint looking houses is enough to entertain me!

Charleston is full of things to do and see. There are several beaches close by like Sullivans Island, Folly’s Beach, and Isle of Palms — just to name a few. Some other things to do and see include the darling Historic Charleston City Market, Charles Town Landing, Fort Sumter, and Magnolia Plantation and Gardens, just to give you an idea.

Not to mention the Charleston food scene is impeccable and the cuisine options are endless!

4. The Sanctuary in Kiawah Island, South Carolina

When I was younger, my family went to Kiawah Island for a week after summer camp one year. We didn’t stay at The Sanctuary, but we were close enough to ride our bikes to it. We rode over one night for swimming and a bite of dinner, and I remember telling my mom I wanted to get married there.

Needless to say, I LOVE this place.

It is definitely a bigger, more resort-like hotel which has pros and cons depending on if you are planning for your honeymoon or simply a vacation. There is plenty of room to spread out and they offer wonderful amenities and dining options.

5. Elizabeth Pointe Lodge in Amelia Island, Florida

Last but not least, where we will be honeymooning soon, Elizabeth Pointe Lodge.

I stumbled across this quaint and cozy lodge while looking for a smaller, more intimate hotel as to not feel so “commercialized” and bombarded with a lot of people.

We love Florida, especially 30A, but it is very very crowded this time of year and we wanted to escape from the crowds (especially with COVID).

This 25 room bed and breakfast is the perfect secluded getaway for any couple.

It is located 2 miles from Fernandina Beach, which has a historic downtown sprinkled with shops and restaurants.

Though Elizabeth Pointe does not have amenities such as a pool or spa, it is located right on the beach and has The Pointe Restaurant located inside the hotel which offers breakfast, lunch (which they can pack up and send with you to the beach!) and dinner. For us, that is really all we need!

We are very very excited about this trip and after we visit I’ll have to do a review of our stay!
