Honest Review: Isle of Paradise Self Tanning Drops

Isle Of Paradise Self Tanning Drops (Dark)

Over every product out there to accomplish a tan, I prefer to simply spend more time in the sun.

But, in the cooler months, when laying out is no longer a thing, I still like to have a little color.

In the past, I have used Jergens lotion, St. Tropez, and gotten many a spray tan. And I loved the way they all looked!

However, to me, there is nothing worse than the smell and the maintenance that comes with keeping the fake tan looking “normal” as it begins to fade off your body.

This is typically the time of year I begin to start using tan enhancers to give me a little color and a confidence boost.

I was tired of the tan coming off on my white sheets & the smell is just too much for me (& Grant–he hates it)!

So, I decided to try this new product on the market: the Isle of Paradise Self Tanning Drops.

Cons

Let’s start with the things I don’t love about this tanner:

Unfortunately, it does still have a slight hint of that self tanner smell after applying it. This was one thing I was trying to avoid. But, I think it is inevitable.

Emphasis on slight— it’s not as strong as any of the other tanners I’ve used.

Also, since it is a clear liquid, I don’t know how well I am mixing it in to my moisturizer before I put it on my body. It turns in to a guessing game & I got a couple random splotches of really dark color. Like, the size of a pea– only I would notice it, so it’s not too terrible.

Overall, color evenness was good.

Pros

Firstly, from Sephora, it is $28 for the drops. Making it less expensive than St. Tropez & a spray tan. (They also have mousse, water, and a self tan eraser!)

The second thing I love about this tanner is that it is made of clean ingredients. Knowing that just makes you feel good, doesn’t it??

I also love that I can add it to my daily moisturizer=EASY! I just use this inexpensive one, but you can literally use whatever you have on hand.

I add two drops to each part of the body I’m doing. (ex. 2 drops for 1 arm, 2 drops for the other arm, etc.) You can add up to 12 depending on what type of color you want.

My favorite part about this product is that after I put it on, it doesn’t feel like anything! There is so residue or thick lotion feel. I’m able to put my clothes on immediately after and not worry about orange stains.

Which leads me to another point, it doesn’t come off on the bed sheets! Amazing.

Lastly, the overall color. I used the Dark shade of drops because I am naturally more olive skinned and because I’ve used self tanners before, I knew it wouldn’t be too dark. And like I said, I only added 2 drops because I wanted a more subtle glow.

Another pro, is that you have control over the color. If you put it on and decide you want to be a little darker, just add a few more drops next time!

Other than the few random splotches of dark color, overall, it looks like a very even-toned tan.

I tried taking before and after pictures but like I said, I am naturally more olive skinned so it wasn’t drastic but I didn’t want it to be, I just wanted a little more color– specifically on my face, and it did just that!

Overall, I would definitely recommend this to a friend!
