5 Ways to Wear Your Closet

Going with the theme of starting fresh for the new year, let’s chat about some ways to wear your closet.

Most people struggle with “having nothing to wear” when they have a closet filled to the brim with clothes.

The reason for this is because they have TOO many options!

It can be overwhelming to have so many things!

5 Ways to Wear Your Closet:

1. Purge your closet

I have been reselling/ consigning clothes for many years now. It feels so good after-the-fact to have less things!

Keep the things you truly love or will wear in the future (I put mine in a bin under my bed and wait a few months to see if I reached for it or not) and get rid of the things that don’t bring you joy!

I consign through Poshmark, The Real Real, Thred Up, and some local places! I also donate things to Goodwill.

2. Experiment

Pull out everything in your closet and put together outfits you haven’t worn before or that you wear often, and take pictures of them! This is a great way to refresh your memory of what you already have.

I am always looking for outfit inspo via Pinterest & Instagram and am always screenshooting and saving things I think I can recreate.

3. Quality over quantity

I sometimes have a hard time with this one! I know how difficult it can be to pass up a good deal! However, think about the lifespan of that item.

Example: it might be worth passing on the $20 sneakers on sale and getting the $100 sneakers that you actually like and that will last you years and years.

4. Accessorize!

Y’all already know how much I love a good scarf moment. Colorful silk scarves (or any scarf/wrap/shawl) are a great way to elevate or change up an outfit you’ve already worn.

Some other accessories I love to spice up outfits are statement earrings, headbands, & purses!

5. Repurposing items

This is a fun one!

Really examine the things in your closet and think of how you could wear it a different way than intended.

Ex. A dress with a belt attached could come apart and you cold put a different belt with the dress or put a different dress with the belt!

Ex. I have a sweater that was 2 layers (a white long top with a cropped sweater attached) I snipped the connecting stitches and now can wear different sweaters with the long white part of the blouse.

Ex. Making maxi & midi dresses into skirts! I love putting a sweater or top over a maxi dress with a belt to make it look like 2 separate pieces.

I hope you found this helpful!
