Hi y’all! Today we are talking body care.
I’ve expressed briefly on my YT channel and in one of my latest blog posts about how I’ve always had little bumps on my upper arms.
After explaining my situation and sharing the Amlactin lotion I am currently using, SO many of you purchased it and got me thinking I might not be the only one with this problem!
For years, I would moisturize with any lotion I had on hand and would pick at the bumps profusely, thinking they were pimples.
It wasn’t until recently that I decided to do some more research on it, due to a recent flare up.
It appears that I have a mild case of Keratosis Pilaris — which is a very common skin condition.
Apparently, cutting out gluten can help the rough, dry skin. However, I don’t really want to do that. Instead, I am just conscious of how much gluten I am consuming.
My Current Routine:
When I take a shower, I use a mild exfoliator (mine is from Trader Joe’s but any kind works!) on the bumpy, dry areas.
After I dry off, I apply the Amlactin lotion to those areas and then put on my robe and let it absorb into my skin before getting dressed.
Since doing this, I have seen significant improvement! Not completely cured, but improved!
The only flaw with the Amlactin lotion is that is does not smell too great… but, the smell goes away after a little while!
I have also seen and read that dry brushing the bumpy areas can help as well! I’ve seen people using this dry brush before they shower. I can’t personally vouch for this, but it might be helpful if you have a more severe case.
Let it go on the record that I am not a doctor and this is all from my personal experience I thought could be helpful to some of you!
Thanks for reading!
