Do you have a hard time falling asleep? Staying alseep? Or waking up and feeling like you didn’t sleep at all?
Keep reading for some helpful tips on how to get a good night’s sleep with the perfect nighttime routine!
These are tips that have helped me, personally. I find that when I forget to implement these things, I can tell a drastic difference in my quality of sleep. I hope they are helpful to you too!
1. Go to bed and wake up at the same time each day
Now, I realize this isn’t realistic for everyone, but I love routine and so do our bodies!
I almost always go to bed around 10 pm and wake up at 6:45 am. Since my body is so used to this routine, it’s natural for me to wake up at 6:45 on my own– and I don’t feel tired!
There have also been studies that show that there is such thing as TOO much sleep which can lead to grogginess during the day. Make sure you are getting the right amount for you!
2. Move your body at some point during the day
I can tell the biggest difference in my sleep when I workout!
This helps your body feel more tried when it’s time to go to sleep. Your body will know when it’s time to rest & recover.
Even if it’s a 20 min walk, it can significantly help you go to sleep and give you more energy during the day!
3. Turn off your screens 30 mins to and hour before you go to bed
This one is definitely hard for me and I’m sure most people.
Putting my phone down and turning off my laptop at least 30 mins before I go to bed– and picking up a book instead– helps ours minds calm down and prepare us for sleep much faster.
4. Stop eating at least an hour before you go to bed
If I get the late night munches before I go to bed, I won’t be sleeping any time soon.
After dinner, I usually drink a cup of hot tea (lavender chamomile is my fave) which gets rid of my snack cravings and helps calm me down before getting ready for bed.
5. Eating a balanced diet
Whenever I splurge, get on a junk food streak, or simply eat too much, I can’t fall asleep because my stomach is uneasy.
I’m not telling you go have a restrictive diet by any means, but, if you are conscious of incorporating some fruits and veggies into your diet, it can significantly help your quality of sleep!
In conclusion, if you are consistent in what you do every night, your body will expect it and know exactly what to do when bedtime rolls around.
