As some of you may already know, our original honeymoon to St. Lucia got canceled due to COVID-19.
We were 3 weeks out from the wedding when we were told we needed to figure out a new plan. For 2 days, I frantically scoured the web for places in the US that didn’t involve flying (too risky), but also offered a beach and good food. In my search, I actually wrote a post about several places I found that would be great vacations spots or honeymoon destinations in the US — read it here.
We ended up choosing Elizabeth Pointe Lodge in Amelia Island, Florida!
We stayed Sunday – Friday and we were a little nervous that Hurricane Isaias was going to catch us, but thankfully it only rained on Monday and was beautiful throughout the rest of the week!
Grant and I both agree that our favorite part of our stay was the amazing complimentary breakfast. Maybe it was the fact that we were enjoying it on their dreamy porch…
Neither of us were expecting much, but we were blown away by how fresh & delicious everything was! Our favorite was the French toast 🙂
On Tuesday, we rented a boat from Amelia Island Marina and spent most of the day on the water. Elizabeth Pointe Lodge packed us a lunch to-go which was perfect for us to enjoy while on the boat.
As we ate lunch, anchored off the shore of Cumberland Island, we watched the wild horses swim around in the water right next to our boat. Neither of us had seen wild horses before, so it was fun to watch them!
After lunch, we decided to slowly make our way back to the marina and got to see a little dolphin family swimming around. Didn’t get to catch them on camera, but they were so cute!
All in all, the boat was perfect and a highlight of our trip!
The rest of our days were casual beach days. Elizabeth Pointe had private chairs and umbrellas set up for us to use each day, which made it so easy for us to grab a towel & head to the beach!
Besides the breakfast and amazing beach, we also loved the happy hour Elizabeth Pointe hosted. Every night, we would grab a glass of wine and enjoy some time on the porch, before we headed to our dinner reservation.
Overall, it was such a great experience — even in the midst of the pandemic, the hospitality was unmatched and we felt safe & well-taken care of our entire stay. We will definitely be making a trip back to Elizabeth Pointe sometime in the future!
