Our original plan was to have our rehearsal dinner at a venue in downtown Jackson, close to the church. However, we found out (2 weeks out from the wedding) we could no longer have the wedding reception at our house, due to COVID-19.
When I originally expressed how much I would love to have the wedding at our house, my dad, who is a very talented architect, immediately came up with all sorts of renovations to get our home in tip-top shape. So when we found out we couldn’t do the reception at our house, we didn’t want all the work to go to waste.
We decided to move the rehearsal dinner to our house so that the few friends and family that could come, could see the beautiful work that had been done.
At the thought of throwing a party, my mom, who is very talented in art & interior design, was thrilled to redo some things in the house that never had a reason to be fixed before.
My 2 brothers, one older and one younger, who are very hands on in the garden were able to completely transform it into a beautiful oasis — complete with an outdoor pizza oven & chickens.
While we are on the train of giving everyone in my family the credit they deserve, I can’t leave out my younger sister who usually provides all the entertainment. She is amazingly talented at everything, including the piano (a gift I never had) and writing. She wrote the sweetest toast to present at the rehearsal dinner and had us all in tears.
She also refuses to follow my blog due to a strict “no blogger” following policy, but I love her anyway.
I never got the chance to try the yummy appetizers being passed, but they all looked devine. Apparently there were flatbread pizzas coming out of our pizza oven too– and apparently they were fantastic!
Jennifer and Derek Emerson did the food for us and absolutely blew us away.

It was truly a magical evening and set such a personal and special tone for the wedding festivities ahead.
Thank you to the Rudow family for hosting the evening and to my parents for planning the details and opening up their home to all of our guests for the weekend.
Thanks for reading!
